Ruslan Abashidze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia met with Peter A. Wiebler, Mission Director of USAID/Georgia.
Peter A. Wiebler spoke about the ongoing projects implemented by the USAID in Georgia with the participation of IDPs. At the meeting, the sides expressed their will to deepen cooperation and readiness to involve the IDPs as well as the population living on the occupied territories in joint projects. Ruslan Abashidze thanked the Mission Director of USAID/Georgia for the cooperation.
The discussion was focused on the opportunities of the implementation of projects corresponding the needs of the IDPs and the population living on the occupied territories in the agricultural, educational and healthcare spheres.
Ruslan Abashidze and Peter A. Wiebler assessed the scale of the spread of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the occupied Abkhazia and evaluated the steps taken by the Government of Georgia and the International Organizations to improve the healthcare situation on the ground.
The sides also discussed the steps taken to protect and promote the Abkhazian language. The Mission Director of USAID/Georgia expressed readiness to participate in the supporting projects in case if it is necessary.
Ruslan Abashidze and Peter A. Wiebler talked about the need to unite the society of Abkhazia and strengthen the confidence building between the IDPs and the population living on the occupied territories.
David Hoffman, Deputy Mission Director of USAID/Georgia; Ivane Dolidze, Minister of Finance and Economy of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and David Gakharia, Head of the Department of International Relations and Protocol of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia attended the meeting.
